Elections 2014: Rs 331 cr cash, 225 lakh litre liquor, 1.85 lakh kg drugs seized

Voting in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections is over and the data released by the Election Commission shows that over Rs 331 crore in cash was seized during the polls.
The EC also seized 225 lakh litre liquor and 1.85 lakh kg drugs this election season.

Andhra Pradesh tops the list of the highest cash recovery at Rs 153 crore. Karnataka comes in second at Rs 28 crore and Maharashtra third with Rs 25.67 crore.

In drugs seizure, Punjab tops the list with 1.39 lakh kg of it having been recovered from the state. Uttar Pradesh was second with 24,000 kg of drugs seized.

The total number of FIRs registered this election were 13,642. 

A total of 20,349 teams of Flying Squads and Static Surveillance Teams were deployed during this election, which comprise of 4 persons each, said the Election Commission.
