Student shot dead, tension erupts in Muzaffarnagar

A student of class ten was shot dead by some youths in a mobile shop here today, sparking tension in the area. Furious over the killing of Uvais, locals blocked road traffic, the police said.

One person had been arrested in connection with the killing of the student while another, allegedly involved in the crime, was absconding. Senior police officers rushed to the scene and brought the situation under control.

Adequate police personnel were deployed in the area as a precautionary measure.
