Record 20,000 troops turn Varanasi into garrison town

Nearly 20,000 central paramilitary forces and state armed personnel will be deployed across the high-profile constituency of Varanasi for the May 12 poll -- possibly the heaviest force deployment in a non-extremism-hit constituency, according to Election Commission sources.

BJP's PM candidate Narendra Modi is pitted against Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal and Congress's Ajay Rai in the temple town. -- TOI
