May 07, 2014  13:45
In a major relief for Gujarat Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's close confidant Amit Shah, the CBI has given a clean chit to him in the Ishrat Jahan encounter case, say sources. The CBI says no evidence found against Shah.

The CBI filed two charge sheets in the fake encounter case naming seven Gujarat police officials and four Intelligence Bureau officials, including the then State IB chief Rajinder Kumar, as the accused. The names of Amit Shah and Kaushik did not figure in the charge sheet.
