The Cabinet has passed a decision to appoint a judge for the commission that has been set up on snoopgate, says home minister Sushilkumar Shinde. Snoopgate refers to allegations that the Narendra Mod-led Gujarat government had mounted an illegal surveillance on a woman architect.

Hitting out at Narendra Modi, Shinde says, "When as CM he was snooping on women, then what will happen to our women if he becomes PM?"

Chief Justice Dhananjaya Yashwant Chandrachud of the Allahabad HC will be requested to nominate a sitting judge from his court.
