The Congress is possibly changing its strategy after deliberations -- Digvijaya Singh will not be deployed against Narendra Modi in Varanasi. The final candidate is likely to be a Brahmin or a Bhumihar without much star value. The strong caste-based grouping will be taken into consideration.
Digvijaya, who is the Congress General Secretary and a Rahul Gandhi loyalist Singh had shown keen interest in fighting against Modi in Varanasi. Initially, Anand Sharma too was keen to be the Varanasi candidate.
