BJP National President Rajnath Singh today said his party would field strong candidates against Sonia and Rahul Gandhi in Uttar Pradesh.

"The party will field strong candidates against Sonia and Rahul. Party is considering many strong candidates to be fielded from Amethi and Rae Bareli," Singh said.

The BJP is considering a suggestion to field former Madhya Pradesh CM Uma Bharti and TV actor and Rajya Sabha MP Smriti Irani against Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in Rae Bareli and Amethi respectively, but there have been no confirmations as yet.

Asked about Congress Saharanpur candidate Imran Masood's statement against Narendra Modi, Singh said his statement showed his disappointment due to Modi's popularity.

Singh, when asked about the change in the SP candidate from Lucknow, said "just wait and watch how a political party changes its candidates from other places too".
