Susmita Bhattacharya, only Indian writer in book of British short stories

On Sunday, Plymouth, Britain-based Susmita Bhattacharya read her enchanting story Letters Home at a quaint Khar, Mumbai, store, Sanctum.
The story was spawned by Susmita's time (8 years) at a centre in Cardiff, Wales, where immigrants from countries afar as Bangladesh, Iraq and Somalia were taught English, life skills and most important, how to cope in an alien land.
Susmita, who is from Mumbai, is the only Indian author featured in Rarebit, a new collection of 21 contemporary stories by Welsh writers that 'encapsulate much that is vibrant and exciting about modern short fiction.
'Susmita, the winner of the Literature Wales Mentorship Award 2009, has her first novel, A Normal State of Mind, coming out later this year.
