'Gujarat carnage does not stop because Modi does not have the desire to stop it'

Author and senior journalist M J Akbar on Saturday joined the BJP in the presence of party president Rajnath Singh. Akbar said he had come back to politics with the BJP for its policies and work to bring the nation back into a "recovery mission".

Akbar, who was close to then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, acknowledged that the latter was a friend and 20 years have passed since that. Backing Narendra Modi, the BJP's prime ministerial candidate, Akbar said that no other leader has gone through so much scrutiny as Modi.
