Congress takes a new step to move beyond Kalmadi era in Pune
March 19, 2014  16:43
The Congress move to nominate Vishwajeet Kadam, who heads the party's state youth wing, as its Lok Sabha candidate from Pune is being seen as a desperate attempt to bury a tainted past, represented by suspended sitting MP Suresh Kalmadi, an accused in the CWG scam.

Kadam's candidature, announced last night, ended the suspense surrounding the much-talked about possibility of renomination of Kalmadi or fielding his confidant in view of the two-decade long clout he wielded on city politics.

Reacting to his nomination, Kadam, son of Maharashtra minister Patangrao Kadam - who has been for long aspiring for the post of Chief Minister - sounded confident about winning.
