Will not target Musharraf during ceasefire: Taliban

The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan today denied reports that it was planning to target former military ruler Pervez Musharraf, saying it will abide by a month-long ceasefire announced by the militant group.

The Taliban, which had earlier announced that it will target Musharraf, said in a statement that it will not break the promise for halting attacks for a month. The statement came a day after a leaked document surfaced in the media, warning that Musharraf might be targeted by the TTP or al-Qaeda on his way to the special court hearing the high treason trial against the 70-year-old commando.

"Our Shariat does not allow us to break the promise. We cannot target anyone during ceasefire and other jihadi organisations are also in favour with us about it," Chief of Executive Commission TTP Momand Agency Omar Khorasani said in a statement posted on his twitter account
