Nisha Biswal meets Foreign Secy

US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Nisha Desai Biswal today called on Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh.

Singh stressed the need for officials on both sides to expeditiously resolve outstanding issues in a bid to focus on substantive and strategic aspects of the Indo-US partnership.        

On her part, Biswal conveyed the US government's message that ties between the two countries were "important" and both should move forward, putting behind their "differences" over the Khobragade episode.        

Ahead of Biswal's departure from Washington, State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki had said US Secretary of State John Kerry was sending with her a message that the "relationship is important".
