Mamata announces list of 48 candidates

The Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has released the list of the candidates.

The TMC is a part of the Third Front which has other regional parties - Samajwadi Party, CPM, CPI, AIADMK, Janata Dal United, Janata Dal Secular.

West Bengal will go to polls on April 17, 24, 30, May 7, 12.

What we have so far are:

Baichung Bhutia: Darjeeling

Moon Moon Sen: Bankura

Deb (Actor): Ghatal, West Midnapore

Sugata Bose (Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was his great uncle): Jadavpur

Forty-eight candidates have been named, 11 women candidates have been given tickets. Composer, singer, Kabir Suman, a TMC MP, has been denied a ticket. Suman has publicly criticised Mamata Banerjee earlier.
