SC to hear plea of victims' families against release of Rajiv killers

The Supreme Court today agreed to hear the plea of the families of victims of the 1991 blast that killed former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, challenging the Tamil Nadu government's decision to release the seven convicts in the case.        

A bench, headed by Chief Justice P Sathasivam, said it would hear on March 6 their plea along with the Centre's plea against the release of the prisoners.        

The petition was filed by a group of people comprising Abbas and John Joesph, family members of the victims, local Congress politician Americai Narayanan and three others.
