A correspondent from Delhi reports: At least 10 to 15 Union ministers will lose so badly in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls that they might have to forfeit their deposits.

Some of them may choose not to contest.

Two or three may even head to Tihar Jail like their former colleague A Raja, joked an Union minister.

When Railway Minister Mallikarjuna Kharge sought permission to declare a railway project in Kolar, Karnataka, he was told by Finance Minister P Chidamabarm that the government did not have the requisite fiscal reserve.

Finally Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had to step in to approve the request.
