Environmentalist Chandy Prasad Bhatt selected for Gandhi peace prize

Noted Gandhian and environmentalist Chandi Prasad Bhatt has been selected for the Gandhi Peace Prize for 2013.

According to an official release, the jury for the prize under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh took the decision.

Bhatt was one of the pioneers of the Chipko movement for which he was awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 1982. He was also a recipient of the Padma Bhushan in 2005.
