A correspondent reports from Delhi: No smile. No happiness. No jokes among the Union ministers

The last meeting of the Union cabinet, held on Friday, was like a "condolence meeting", according to a senior Union Minister.

During the Cabinet meeting, Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth was scheduled to make a special mention, but he was asked to do so on Saturday instead.

Meanwhile, the Union government has scotched speculations about raising the retirement age of government officials from 60 to 62.
