Nagaland Governor Ashwini Kumar resigns. Home minister Rajnath Singh today said that the government cannot rule out the appointment of governors before the Parliament session begins on July 7.

The Modi government has so far refrained from sending a formal communication to Congress-appointed governors to submit their papers, relying instead on Union home secretary Anil Goswami to nudge the occupants of Raj Bhavans informally to step down on their own.
