Rajasthan governor Margaret Alva did not meet UPA president Sonia Gandhi during her Delhi visit, but her schedule included a meeting with President Pranab Mukherjee and PM Narendra Modi. Alva, it seems, told her close friends that the Congress has no future. She is believed to have said that she devoted her life to a party that has been routed. We hear that her son, Nivedith, may join the BJP in Karnataka.

Alva has previously been a governor in Uttarakhand.

If you've just joined us: The Narendra Modi government has asked some UPA-appointed governors to put in their papers, Uttar Pradesh Governor B L Joshi and Karnatakas H R Bhardwaj have tendered their resignations.
