Manali tragedy: High Court steps in

The Himachal Pradesh high court has taken suo moto cognisance of the tragedy at Pandoh Dam where 24 classmates were washed away in Beas river. The court wants the state government to file a report by June 16.

Twenty four engineering students from Hyderabad, who were on an excursion, were swept away on Sunday in a sudden surge of water released from the dam. Five bodies have been found, while 19 students are still missing.

A plane carrying the five bodies and 22 survivors of the group returned to Hyderabad last night on a special flight arranged by the Andhra Pradesh government.
