Full state honours conferred on Assam cop

Superintendent of police of Assam's Hamren police district, who was killed by tribal militants on Thursday night, was awarded full state honours. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju attended the funeral this morning. SP Nityananda Goswami and his personal security officer and 18 other officers were leading them in an operation against tribal militants from the Karbi People's Liberation Tigers when they were shot down.
