Badaun SSP, district magistrate suspended; 42 cops transferred

In a major reshuffle in Uttar Pradesh following the crumbling law and order situation, top names in the machinery including the Senior Superintendent of Police Atul Saxena and District Magistrate Chandra Prakash of Badaun have been suspended.

Forty two top police officials have also been transferred.

There has been a major outrage after two Dalit sisters were gang-raped and hanged in Badaun. The girls went missing on May 27 and their bodies were found the next day. Badaun is 300 km from Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow.The UP government has been under fire for increase in number of rape cases in the state.
