We were the first to tell you that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has chosen Hindi over English as the official diplomatic language. As our May 28 story says, Narendra Modi spoke in Hindi to all the eight SAARC leaders present at his swearing-in ceremony on May 26.

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh spoke in English while with few Pakistani leaders he did speak in Punjabi. But, it's now official that Modi has brought Hindi into vogue in the Videsh Mantralaya. Modi will use interpreters from now onwards.
