The finance ministry has given its approval for rape crisis centres across the country. The Women and child development ministry has proposed the setting up of rape crisis centres in the aftermath of the Badaun rape. In fact, the ministry had decided to fast forward UPA-2's proposal of setting up one-stop crisis centres across the country.

Women and child development minister Maneka Gandhi said the centres, which she said is one of her top priorities, will be functional by December.
