LIVE! Poor visibility, risk of collision forced Air Algerie flight to alter course

Reuters reports that the French military will be sending two fighter jets based in the region to try to locate the missing plane Air Algerie flight. Other than Chinese State TV and Algierian media nobody else has confirmed that the Air Algerie flight has crashed. So far, what we know is that it has disappeared off the radar over Niger in west Africa.

The plane was not far from the Algerian frontier when the crew was asked to make a detour because of poor visibility and to prevent the risk of collision with another aircraft.
