Families of stranded Indians (mainly from Punjab) in conflict hit Iraq are staging a dharna at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, demanding the central government's intervention for their release.

At least 3,000 Indians are still stranded in armed conflict hit Iraq and there is still no word on the plight of 39 workers abducted by the ISIS, who have now spent more than five weeks in custody.

Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, along with four Lok Sabha MPs of the party, met the families today afternoon.

MP Bhagwant Mann accompanied the family members to meet senior officials in the external affairs ministry.
