Australian PM Tony Abbott has criticised Russia over the MH17 disaster. He warned that Russia would lose "any international standing" if it blocked an impartial investigation into the deaths of the 298 people.

The Australian prime minister said Russia's denial of any responsibility "frankly does not stand up to any serious scrutiny'. He said the Boeing 777 was shot down in eastern Ukraine "over territory controlled by Russian-backed rebels" and "by a missile which seems to have been launched by Russian-backed rebels".
