In Parliament today: Debate on Rail Budget, TRAI Bill
July 14, 2014  08:49
The Narendra Modi government's first Rail Budget will be discussed by both Houses of Parliament on Monday.

The Lok Sabha will also be taking up the TRAI Amendment Bill for consideration and passing by the lower House.

This bill replaces the ordinance which paved the way for Nripender Mishra's appointment as principal secretary to the Prime Minister.

Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and TMC leader Sougata Roy will move a statutory resolution to oppose the Bill in the Lok Sabha.

While the BJP has defended the TRAI ordinance saying it is based on merits, the Congress has criticised the government for showing undue haste in bringing a person specific ordinance.
