Abdul Nasser Madani to be released on bail today

Kerala PDP Chairman and 2008 Bangalore serial blasts prime accused Abdul Nasser Madani would be released from jail today on health grounds. 

Madani was, on July 11, granted one-month bail by the Supreme Court while taking note that he is an under-trial prisoner who was already behind the bars for the last four years and was suffering from various ailments, including diabetes and vision-threatening ailment in both eyes.
 
The Karnataka government had opposed the bail and said that it was ready to make all arrangements required for his treatment inside the jail premises. 

Madani, through his lawyer Prashant Bhushan, had contended that he it would be difficult for him to undergo operation if he stays in jail. 

The court said that during his, Madani will not leave Bangalore and the Karnataka government is at liberty to take all steps to ensure that he does not get in touch with witnesses in the case, including putting him under surveillance.
