EC rejects Ashok Chavan's explanation in paid news case

The Election Commission has found former Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan guilty of fudging poll expenses in 2009. It

It has issued a showcause notice to Chavan in the paid news case. It has rejected his explanation and asked Chavan to submit his representation within 20 days.

The former CM has failed to lodge his account of election expense as required.

The EC order on Chavan says he failed to file his election expenses in the manner as required by the law.
