The Mumbai unit of the BJP today expressed confidence that the new BJP President Amit Shah, would be able to replicate the performance of the party in Maharashtra, as he did in Uttar Pradesh in the recent Lok Sabha elections.

50-year-old Shah had engineered a massive victory in Uttar Pradesh for BJP during the Lok sabha elections in May this year, where the party bagged 71 of the 80 parliamentary seats.

"The other name of Amit Shah is victory. Wherever Amit bhai goes, victory follows. We are confident that he will sweep Maharashtra in the upcoming assembly polls, the way he won states like UP and Gujarat during the Lok sabha elections. He is very well versed with the politics of Maharashtra as he himself was born in Mumbai," Ashish Shelar, President of Mumbai Unit of the BJP said.
