MP Tapas Pal hospitalised just as BJP, Left were to raise censure motion against him

Just in: Controversial TMC MP Tapas Pal has been admitted to hospital for back pain. That comes at a time when the BJP and the Left were going to propose a censure motion against him in Parliament.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is facing the heat from intellectuals for downplaying the rape for revenge comment made by Tapas Pal.

Pal had submitted an unconditional apology for his remarks in a Nadia village, where he threatened to send his men out to rape and murder supporters of the CPI(M).

A PIL was filed in the Calcutta high court against the MP and the Opposition upped its ante as it became clear that action against him was unlikely to be taken by the party.
