Meanwhile, Congress party president Sonia Gandhi says that the party is entitled to the post of Leader of the Opposition. The government says that since the Congress has only 44 seats in the Lok Sabha - less than a tenth of the strength of the house of 543 seats - it cannot get the post of Leader of the Opposition. The decision, it says, will rest with Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.
