A wreath was laid to commemorate the death anniversary of Brigadier Mohammad Usman, MVC, at Jamia Millia Islamia University today. Several retired and serving officers including Lt general NS Ghei, AVSM, Commandant National Defence College and Colonel of the Parachute Regiment attended the function. Vice Chancellor and Registrar of Jamia Millia Islamia University also paid tributes.

Brigadier Usman, also known as the savior of Naushera, was responsible for the recapture of Jhangar & Naushera (Jammu & Kashmir) during 1947-48 war with Pakistan. The gallant officer attained martyrdom on July 3, 1948 when an enemy artillery shell landed close to him in Naushera.
