200 peacocks killed over last two months in Rajasthan: NGO

Around 200 peacocks have been have been killed over the last two months in Rajasthan, an NGO today alleged.

State president of NGO, People For Animals, Babulal Jaju, has written a letter to Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje seeking her intervention in the matter. "Carcasses of about 200 peacocks were found in Tonk, Bhilwaral, Bundi, Nagaur, Jhunjhunu, Ajmer, Jhalawar and Sikar and 21 FIRs have been lodged but no action against poachers were taken," Jaju alleged.

Jaju alleged that it was "negligence" of the forest department officials and the police which was taking toll on the national bird.
