IT Czar and the chairman of the Unique Identification Authority of India, Nandan Nilekeni, says that he is ready to contest the Lok Sabha polls. Nilekani will be contesting the polls on a Congress ticket.

He had earlier said that participatory democracy is good, but it is just not right to discuss an issue like Kashmir through an SMS poll.

He was addressing students at the Christ College in Bangalore today, when he was asked several questions by students one among which was his decision to contest the elections.

He said that ordinary citizens should join politics, and he would like to be part of this movement. "In India the biggest change can be brought about through politics and I want to be there," he said.

On the participatory democracy being practised by the Aam Admi Party, he said we need to make democracy interactive and participatory, however at the same time, he said, he did not believe that issues such as Kashmir should be discussed through an SMS poll.
