Decision on President's Rule in AP likely today
February 28, 2014  09:45
The United Progressive Alliance government is likely to decide on Friday whether or not to impose Presidents Rule in Andhra Pradesh.

The government is keen to decide on a number of issues during the meet.

Over a week after Parliament passed a bill for bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, the central government is yet to decide on the day when two states will formally come into being.

Since neither the Congress nor any other party has staked claim to form government, Presidents Rule seems inevitable in Andhra Pradesh.

The assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh are due along with the Lok Sabha elections.

Since it may take three months for the two states to formally come into being, the assembly elections may not be held simultaneously with Lok Sabha polls.
