UPA to push anti-corruption bills on last day of Parliament
February 21, 2014  09:25
After the passing of the Telangana Bill, the UPA government is mulling of pushing through six anti-corruption bills on the last day of the extended winter session of Parliament before general elections on Friday.

These bills are key to Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi's election campaign who is being projected as an anti-corruption crusader by the party. The bills include the Judicial Standards and Accountability Bill, the Whistle Blowers Protection Bill, and the Time Bound Delivery of Goods and Services and Grievance Redressal Bill.

Rahul had earlier blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party of stalling the bills. The BJP hit back saying Rahul has woken up too late to the problem of corruption.

Parliamentary Affaris Minister Kamal Nath said, "It will be my effort till the end to see the anti-corruption bills which are necessary, at least some of them are passed. The BJP must come forward and say that we would like to pass them."
