Union ministers and Congress MPs say they are depressed as the polls get close. They believe they will not be re-elected since the the country is reeling under an anti-UPA wave.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, as part of the deal, will assure the Rajya Sabha about the government's commitment to a financial package for Seemandhra, the non-Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh, and a more equitable distribution of benefits from the Polavaram irrigation project.
