Massive traffic snarls on Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway may soon become a thing of the past as Delhi High Court will take a decision on removal of Gurgaon toll plaza on Wednesday.

If the court allows the removal of toll plaza then a large portion of the expressway road will be left open for free traffic movement, as assured by National Highway Authority of India earlier.

In a plea, NHAI,operator DGSCL and project financier IDFC had asked the court to order removal of the toll plaza. On the other hand, South Delhi Municipal Corporation had raised concerns over the collection of entry tax from all commercial vehicles entering Delhi.

NHAI along with operator and financier had also agreed to make an alternate facility for SDMC to collect entry tax from commercial vehicles.

Lakhs of commuters will be relieved from hours long traffic snarls which are quite common during the peak hours at Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway.
