Letters to be sent to 23 lakh assessees for not filing returns

In a last-ditch effort to meet revenue targets, the Income Tax Department will be sending out letters to 23 lakh assessees who have not filed returns.

"We have identified 23 lakh people who have invested their money, but have not filed returns. We will be sending out letters to them asking them details of their tax returns," an official said.
