February 10, 2014  11:44
The post-mortem report Nido Tania (19), the student from Arunachal Pradesh, has confirmed that he died of injuries suffered on his head and face. While there were preliminary autopsy reports earlier, this is the final report.

The report says that Nido suffered a swelling in the brain, usually a result of violent shaking or injury. The teenager was punched in the head and also repeatedly hit with a stick in two different instances. The report says that severe internal bleeding led to his death. The injury was cased by a blunt object.

The swelling led to accumulation of fluid, or edema, in lungs which blocked the respiratory system, killing Tania. The boy was laid to rest in his village on Sunday.

The three accused in the case may now be charged with murder; they have so far been charged under the SC/ST Act. Three more accused are absconding.
