President Pranab Mukherjee's appeal to Parliamentarians to not disrupt the house has fallen on deaf ears. Members opposed to the creation of a new Telangana state by dividing Andhra Pradesh, today tore up papers in the Rajya Sabha, broke the chairman's mic and held up placards near his chair, forcing the upper house to adjourn. The Rajya Sabha will no reconvene at 2 pm, while the Lok Sabha has adjourned for the day.
