Just in: The Union Cabinet clears the draft Telangana Bill for the creation of the separate state of Telangana. The Bill now goes to the Parliament, but the Core Committee is yet to decide whether the Bill will be first presented to the Lok Sabha or the Rajya Sabha.

The GoM on Telangana decided on Thursday to place before the Cabinet and Congress leadership a compromise proposal to turn Hyderabad into a Union Territory for 10 years.

The current bill envisages the city as joint capital for Telangana and Seemandhra for the first 10 years after bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. The governor will control the law and order of Telangana.
