Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has written to Lt Governor Najeeb Jung seeking legal opinion that Centre must clear the Jan Lokpal Bill before Delhi Assembly.

Solicitor General Mohan Parasaran had reportedly said yesterday that before the Delhi legislature debates or votes on the bill, it must be cleared by the Union home ministry. He said that he has only given his opinion on constitutional grounds and is not bothered about politics.

AAP contests that. Prashant Bhushan said, "In my view it is possible to pass Jan Lokpal without going to the LG or the President."

"The Constitution gives us the right. What the solicitor general has advised and what are the clauses he has cited we have to see, but I would like to say that no one is above and more supreme than an elected government and an elected Vidhan Sabha (legislature) and the Constitution guarantees this," Delhi minister Manish Sisodia told NDTV.
