CNN-IBN reports: The Delhi Police has denied reports that it dropped a young Arunachal student back at a sweet shop in south Delhi where he had earlier been beaten

Nido Taniam, the son of a Congress MLA in Arunachal Pradesh, was found dead inside his room on Thursday. He had allegedly been beaten up by workers at a sweet shop after he broke a window pane there when he was mocked over his hair.

Eyewitnesses and Taniam's friends had claimed that the police, after taking Rs 10,000 from Taniam to pay for the damages, dropped him back at the shop where he was beaten up again.

The police now say that they had handed the victim over to his uncle. "This was done after a written compromise between the boy and the shopkeepers was reached," they said.

A protest and prayer meeting has been announced by Arunachal student groups at 12 noon at the spot where the incident happened.
