AirAsia plane missing: Indonesia civil aviation authority joins search and rescue operations

AirAsia officials have stated that a search rescue operation for the missing flight under the guidance of the Civil Aviation Authority of Indonesia.

Sources say that the last communication with the flight indicated that pilot asked for a diversion, alternate route.

The AirAsia flight QZ8501 lost contact with Jakarta air traffic control just after 07.24 am on Sunday.
