Inquiry against cops as complainant in Asaram case disappears

After the missing report of the 33-year-old woman who has filed a complaint of rape against self-proclaimed godman Asaram, from her house in Surat, police authorities today ordered inquiry against four constables.

"We have initiated inquiry against the four constables who were on duty to provide protection to the victim," Surat Deputy Commissioner of Police Pradip Sejul said.

These policemen did not inform the superior officials when the woman told them that she wanted to attend a wedding in Amroli area in Surat and did not want protection, he said.

"Had they informed the superiors, they would have been directed to escort her nonetheless," he said. The police realised that she had been missing only on December 18.
