Assam: Army, police begin joint operation against militants

A joint operation of Assam Rifles, central security forces, the Assam police and the Indian Army began this morning at the state border with Arunachal Pradesh against a Bodo militant group accused of killing 83 people on Tuesday in one of the worst massacres in the northeastern state. sources told NDTV.

Bodo militants allegedly burnt houses of tribals late on Thursday night in Balidanga in Sonitpur, one of the districts worst affected by violence this week.
