Union Budget session to commence on February 24

President Pranab Mukherjee is likely to address the Joint Session of Parliament on February 24, which signals the commencement of the Union Budget session.

The presentation of the economic survey and the railway budget will follow the president's address. Budget day was earlier scheduled for Friday, February 27, but it its likely to be rescheduled to Saturday, February 26 or 28.

Sources say that astrologers asked Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu not to have the budget presented at 11 am on Friday as it is an inauspicious time (Fridays between 1030 hours to 1200 hours) A final call will be taken only in the middle of January.
